Symposium 22–23/01/09 in Volos: The role of the city museum in connecting contemporary artists and new entrepreneurs
The greek project partner DIKI (Municipal Center for Historical Research and Documentation of Volos) presented the actual Volos City Museum project and its website. After a discussion, there was a common visit of the City Museum building (in restoration) in the Palia district (Old town). After that, the partners made a trip to the Tsalapatas brick factory. It was established in 1925 by Tsalapatas Bros and operated until 1975, when ceased the production. Since 1995, the factory is listed by the Ministry of Culture as a monument for preservation. During a trip to the Palia market, the project partners had the opportunity, to visit numerous new ethnical entrepreneurs and artists, to get more familiar with their life and work conditions, to interview them about their motivation and they also get an impression of the fruit of their artistically works. Besides these meetings, there were workshops and discussions about the method of mind mapping and a visit within the Municipal Institute for Applied Arts. The project partners also had a visit at the Zogia’s Museum in Volos.
